A big thank you to everyone who donated their hair in this year’s COVID-friendly edition of Haircuts for a Cause! I am so happy to report that we had several people go to Brush Salon to cut and donate their hair for Wigs for Kids BC.
I have to admit I wasn’t sure anyone would want to participate this year, considering the circumstances, but for the 4th year in a row I was amazed by the generosity in our community. At a time when many are worried about their own circumstances during this global pandemic, it is so heartwarming to know that we can still make time to help one another. Over the past four years I am proud to say we’ve had hundreds of people have donate their hair through Haircuts for a Cause, all to create wigs for those undergoing cancer treatment or other conditions which cause them to lose their hair. From the bottom of my heart — thank you to everyone who has donated.
While this year’s event has wrapped up, I’ve had many people reach out to me wondering if they can still donate and you absolutely can! Wigs for Kids BC accepts hair throughout the year — all you need to do is cut your hair at home and mail it to the wonderful folks at Eva & Co Wigs who create the wigs.
Here are the details:
Hair:
- Should be a minimum of 10 inches in length- Should be tied in a ponytail and cut above the elastic (not braided)
- Should not be dyed, permed or chemically treated
- Grey hair IS accepted
- Do not straighten or style hair before - simply wash and dry
If your hair meets all of the specifications above, you can cut your hair at home and place it in an envelope and mail it to the address below:
